Hope Emmanuel Mbelwa is an Assistant Lecturer in the School of Computational and Communication Sciences and Engineering at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST). She has a Master’s degree in Information Communication Science and Engineering. Her research interests focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Her focus is in researching, implementing and consulting on the applications of Artificial Intelligence technologies in solving socio-economic problems in Tanzania and other developing countries. One of the areas she is particularly interested is the use of Computer Vision through the application of Deep Learning techniques in comprehending and interpreting visual scenes. She possesses a deep passion for conducting research in collaboration with poultry farmers, ensuring their active participation at every stage of the research process. This includes problem identification, goal and approach design, evaluation and monitoring, as well as feedback and planning. Her unwavering dedication to smallholder farmers and their welfare has led her to research on this area.
